Sängerin P!nk reagiert auf die Abtreibungsdebatte in den USA auf ihre eigene Art: mit einem Protestsong namens „Irrelevant“.
Mit „Dear Mr. President“ hatte sie 2006 dem damaligen US-Präsidenten George W. Bush eine Ansage gemacht. Jetzt sagt sie ihre deutliche Meinung zum vom Supreme Court gekippten Abtreibungsrecht in den USA. „Lass es mich klar sagen: Wenn du glaubst, dass sich die Regierung in den Uterus einer Frau oder in die Belange einer schwulen Person einmischen sollte, oder dass Rassismus okay ist – dann hör dir verdammt noch mal meine Musik nie wieder an. Und hau einfach ab. Verstehen wir uns?“, hatte sie vor einigen Wochen zu der Debatte unter anderem getwittert.
Diese Wut hat die Sängerin nun in einen Song gepackt: „Irrelevant“ erschien in der Nacht auf Donnerstag in den Streaming- und Download-Diensten, auf dem Cover ist P!nk mit ausgestrecktem Mittelfinger zu sehen. Auf YouTube ist der Song seit Donnerstagmorgen verfügbar.

Zum Titel „Irrelevant“ kam es, weil Kritiker die 42-Jährige online als irrelevant bezeichnet hatten. Geschrieben hat sie den Track gemeinsam mit Songwriter und Produzent Ian Fitchuk. Hier ist der gesamte Songtext:
